Makina campaigns for freedom and human rights with their songs in Turkish and English. The bandcollective with a rotating cast consisting of Kiel, formerly Flensburg, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Istanbul and Tel Aviv musicians, played several club gigs and festivals in northern Germany since 2012. They Realeased their debut album “Demokrasi“ in 2013.
On their second release “Istanbul”, a 7 “EP on toanol records, Makina present four songs, which are characterized by the unmistakable melodic stoner punk of the band. The songs in Turkish take the current movements in Turkey as an opportunity to settle accounts with corrupt governments, police violence and military regimes and express their love to the streets of Istanbul. The songs were recorded in Kiel at Blastbeat Productions.
