Hardcore Help Foundation Summer Fest [Halver] 11.07.2015
After some time of preparation, the first show of the European/Russian summer tour by Questions took place at the summer fest of the Hardcore Help Foundation, which supports and realizes several projects all over the world. They point out that hardcore (and music in general) is more than partying.
Since we did not find any person in possession of a driver’s licence having time to go to Halver with us, we had to travel by train and bus. We attached the stuff for our stall, the shirts and CDs for the band on our hand trucks.
Our way to the central station in Kiel was a little bit weary. We were happy when we stored the whole luggage under the seats, tables and every other possible space near our seats on the ICE.
The changeover in Hanover was much easier that we thought. So we were able to get more traveling fare. In Hagen we had to hurry to catch the bus to Halver as we did not want to wait another hour on the station. Luckily we were allowed to take the luggage with us on the bus. We only had to pay an additional fee for it (1,50€, bike ticket). Our In Halver we ony had to go about 200 meter to get to or booked guest house.
After a short break we went shopping and went to see the festival site.
On festival day we went to the festival site after a quite extensive breakfast. After our arrival we were told to use a pavilion the crew build up the day before. That was really nice, even though we brought our own. Due to a mistake our pavilion was used by another stall.
The reunion with Questions was as warm as we expected it. The band was very pleased with the CDs and the clothes we produced. And we were glad to be able to finally meet them again.
The Hardcore Help Foundation Summer Fest is highly recommended. At this year’s edition there were 14 bands from the hardcore, punk and rock scene playing on two stages for about 10 ours in total. Admission for the fest was free. Those who wanted could buy a festival bracelet for 1€. The prices for drinks were quite low. The price for the vegan food was, compared to the meat-containing food, too expensive.
With perfect weather we spent the whole day at our stall, listening to the bands, talking to the people and enjoying the family environment.
At 22:30 the last band finished their set. We packed our stuff and helped Questions to get theirs into their touring van. The parting was as warm as the intercourse during the whole day.
After our arrival at the guesthouse we had another drink as we discussed the events of the day.
The next day we were picked up by two very dear people to the station in Hagen. From this station we were able to go to Kiel directly by an IC.
We had a lot of fun at this weekend. The rides were partly cumbersome but it was totally worth it. We would like to thank all who helped us making this happen at this weekend and before.
We are definitely looking forward welcoming Questions in Kiel at 7 August.
